Kal-Haven Trail State Park Kal-Haven Trail State Park is one of 1600 rail-trails supported by Rails-to-Trails Conservancy, a nonprofit organization that is working to create a nationwide network of trails from former rail lines and connecting corridors. Previously an unused railroad corridor, this "rail-trail" is now a great place to walk Fido in Kalamazoo! Charles Mears State Park Off-leash dogs are welcome on the trails and the southernmost section of the shoreline at the pet-friendly Charles Mears State Park. The recreation area is in the quaint village of Pentwater, MI, along the Lake Michigan shoreline. Paved campsite lots are surrounded by fine sand, and a swimming beach is adjacent to the harbor pier. Sleepy Hollow State Park Sleepy Hollow State Park is a pet-friendly spot in Laingsburg, MI. Your leashed pup is welcome to join you for a day of hiking, disc golf, cross-country skiing or wildlife viewing. A section of the shoreline allows Fido to join that is 100 yards north of the Lake Ovid swimming Bebeach. You can find it by following the main beach parking lot signs. See Details
Sleeper State Park Sleeper State Park is a recreation area with a dog-friendly beach in Caseville, MI. Leashed dogs are welcome to explore the park as long as they are cleaned up after. Enjoy 723 acres of forest, wetlands, and sandy beaches and dunes on the Saginaw Bay of Lake Huron. Fido can roam the trails of the ancient dune forests or hit the beach on its far west end. The area can be accessed by taking the boardwalk. It runs from the west boundary of the park itself to a mutt mitt dispenser and yellow post on the east boundary of the beach. Orchard Beach State Park Orchard Beach State Park in Manistee, MI, is situated on a bluff overlooking Lake Michigan. A stairway leads from the campground to self-guided, dog-friendly hiking trails adjacent to the park. Take US-31 to M-110, turn north, and go one and a half miles to the park entrance. Sanilac Petroglyphs Historic State Park Sanilac Petroglyphs Historic State Park is a 240-acre historic site in Cass City, MI. Bring Fido along for a walk on the 1-mile trail that crosses the Little Cass River. You can also see the Sanilac Petroglyphs, Michigan's only known prehistoric rock carvings attributed to Native American workmanship in the Lower Peninsula of Michigan. Holland State Park Holland State Park in Holland, MI, is pet friendly, other than the beach swim area for humans. Off-leash dogs are welcome on the trails and a section of shoreline available near the mouth of the Pinnebog River. The park is home to a dark sky preserve, three miles of sandy shoreline, a modern campground and a boardwalk. Most of this section's shoreline is closed to pets to protect the endangered piping plover habitat. However, a dog-friendly beach is located down a small path in the picnic area.
