Despite what he may believe, the life of a cat isn’t all sunbathing and fancy feasts. When it comes to travel, finding the “purrfect” place to stay can be a challenge for cat owners. The Stanford Inn by the Sea

Social distancing? Cleaning obsessively? Curling up on the couch in a ball? We’ve all become a bit more like cats in recent times. The Stanford Inn by the Sea welcomes guests to embrace their inner feline in beautiful surroundings on the Mendocino Coast. There’s no need to worry about scratches on the furniture as cover sheets are provided, along with treats, bowls and towels. Fido and Fifi aren't the only pets allowed at this posh property; previous guests have included iguanas, parrots, Vietnamese pot-bellied pigs, and a tortoise. The Stanford Inn by the Sea allows three pets of any size for an additional fee of $45 per stay for one pet, and $22.50 per stay for each additional pet.

The Algonquin Hotel

Since the late 1920s, when a stray named Billy took up residence at The Algonquin Hotel, a cat has always been in charge. The current boss and 12th Algonquin cat is Hamlet, the first male mascot in more than 40 years. The perks of Hamlet’s position include daily brushing, birthday parties, and fashion show benefits. You can even buy a book all about the legend of the Algonquin Cat here. Treats, pet beds and more are distributed by Hamlet and his employees at check-in. One pet up to 50 lbs is welcome for no additional fee.

The Pines Cottages

House cats on tour can choose between a studio or 2-bedroom cottage at The Pines Cottages on the outskirts of Asheville. This quaint collection of cat-friendly cottages is just 8 miles from Biltmore Estate. Friendly felines who get along with others can learn the ropes from two resident cats who can usually be found at reception. The Pines Cottages accepts two pets of any size for an additional fee of $15 per pet, per night.

Loews Ventana Canyon Resort

There’s no denying that Loews is one of the most pet-friendly hotel chains. When you and your cat check-in, you’ll receive treats, bowls and place mats to use during your stay. They’ll even give Fifi the use of pet beds, litter boxes, scratching posts and pet toys. Don’t forget to ask about the gourmet room service at Loews Ventana Canyon Resort with items for cats developed by Executive Chefs. Loews Ventana Canyon Resort welcomes two pets of any size for an additional fee of $100 per stay.

Colony Hotel Palm Beach

Your pink hairless Sphynx cat will fit in grandly at Florida’s pinkest hotel, Colony Hotel Palm Beach. This iconic 4-star hotel has been accommodating two- and four-legged tourists since 1947. Guests are even invited to lounge around the pool with their pussycat and do what cats do best, bask in the Sunshine State’s heat. Colony Hotel Palm Beach welcomes one pet up to 25 lbs for an additional fee of $100 per stay.

La Quinta Inn & Suites Sevierville Kodak

Located near I-40, La Quinta Inn & Suites Sevierville Kodak is the “pawect” cat-friendly pitstop for your next trip to the Great Smoky Mountains. Hook on your tomcat’s travel leash and make use of the relief areas on either side of the hotel. Two pets up to 75 lbs are welcome for no additional fee.

Black Rock Canyon House

Black Rock Canyon House invites you and your calico to escape to the Mojave Desert on your next vacation. Located just under 2 miles from Black Rock Canyon near Joshua Tree National Park, this one’s for cool cats who want to get away from it all. The house has a huge fenced-in yard and patio to hang out on, plus an array of luscious rugs for sprawling all over. The Cloister at Sea Island

As all cat owners know, felines desire 5-star treatment at all times. Not only is The Cloister at Sea Island one of the most stunning pet-friendly oceanfront hotels in the country, it also rolls out the red carpet for visiting pussycats. Built in 1928, this "friendly little hotel" has amassed numerous awards for its refined decor, sumptuous accommodations, spectacular golf course and luxurious spa. After soaking up the surroundings, retire to your room and let your furry friend indulge in handcrafted sushi rolls or pad thai from the gourmet pet menu. The Cloister at Sea Island welcomes two pets up to 35 lbs for an additional fee of $175 per stay.

Rosemont B&B Cottages

Independence River Cabin allows cats with prior approval from the host for an additional fee of $80 per stay.
