Golden Daddy

It's an old roadside motel. Adequate for an overnight stay, but I think it’s overpriced for what you’re getting. There are other options in town.

I really wanted to like this place. I love ‘old school’ roadside motels. This one could use some repairs and updating. The WiFi didn’t work , the ice machine didn't work, the hot water knob didn’t work…. The grounds were kind of junky. I know it's hard to make it as a family run business, but most of these items are easy fixes.

I've always really liked this motel. It's been around forever, and is definitely dated and in need of refurbishing. It has a million dollar view of Fogarty Creek Beach. Situated on a bluff overlooking the ocean, the view is absolutely beautiful. The plan is to demolish the motel in April 2025, and totally rebuild it. When it reopens it will be a Cambria property, with the same owners. I just hope that it’s not crazy expensive. It’s currently very affordable.

Nice hotel. Good breakfast. My only complaint was that they charged me for the room even though it was pre-paid through BringFido. They acknowledged that it was pre-paid, but double charged me anyway. I brought it to their attention the next morning before I checked out and they assured me that it was fixed. It was NOT. I had to resolve it through my credit card company. Ugh, what a hassle!

I really liked this place. A young couple owns and operates it. She’s super nice and friendly, and a hard worker. It’s a 60’s style motel, but well maintained. The room was surprisingly big and very clean. Nothing fancy, but totally adequate for a night or two’s stay. I’ll definitely be back.

The staff were nice. Can’t say much else good about the place. Sketchy people hanging out in the parking lot. Nasty smells throughout. Ice machine didn’t work.

The room was clean and the staff were nice. The hallway smelled horrible, and the building could use a renovation. The street behind the motel is a homeless camp. So lots of sketchy folks milling around the motel. I wouldn’t take my family there. Way overpriced, but that’s because it’s semi-close to Yellowstone.

Old school motel in impeccable condition. Friendly staff, clean rooms, nice grounds and grass for the doggies. I’ll DEFINITELY be back.

Best Super 8 I’ve EVER stayed in. Friendly and professional staff. The motel is in better than new condition. Extremely clean! Great Location! Great pet relief area. Can’t say enough good things about this place.

I so want to say something nice about this place, but the ONLY good thing is the lady who runs it. She’s so nice! This motel should NOT be listed on BringFido. It’s absolutely horrible. Nothing works properly. The TV was intermittent and WiFi is non existent. The room was old and extremely worn, and not very clean. I think the few people that inhabit the place use it for low income housing. I didn’t feel safe and was worried about my car. Please don’t take your family here!

Clean and adequate for an overnight stay. No breakfast, but they did have coffee. I’d stay again.

Clean and adequate for an overnight stay! No breakfast, but they did have coffee. It’s far enough off the freeway to be semi quiet.

The motel is definitely in need of a remodel, but it’s clean and adequate for an overnight stay. The lighting is interesting. I thought half the bulbs were out, but was told that there’s a complicated procedure for making them work properly. Very weird!

Very sketchy! The room was clean and adequate, but I won’t be back. The exterior is very worn and unkept. Apparently the majority of this motel is used for Government subsidized low income housing. I requested a first floor room in advance, given I have a dog. I was given a 3rd floor room. They also required a $100 damage deposit. Not necessary on a rundown property like this. Not safe for families in my opinion.

Very clean room. Friendly staff. Breakfast is minimal, but decent. One of the best Super 8’s I’ve stayed in.

I really liked the place, but it’s a little quirky. They don’t have any sort of breakfast, in fact, the lobby doesn’t open until 9am, so no early morning coffee. Checkout is 10am not 11 like usual. There’s no ice bucket in your room, so you have to go to the office where they fill a plastic bag for you. They don’t give you a WiFi password, you have to download via a QR code. Just a little odd, but I’d stay there again.

Staff was friendly. Room was clean and functional. Breakfast was minimal- toast, bagels, cereal... My only complaint was the A/C. I was in room 127 and had it blowing full bore on a 60 degree day. It never did cool off the room.

The entire staff was super friendly. Breakfast was good. The lady who runs the breakfast is soooo nice. My only complaint about my stay was the room’s carpet. My white socks were filthy after walking around the room. The motel is dated, but adequate for a night’s stay.

Convenient location. Clean, well maintained. Good doggie relief area. Decent breakfast.

The staff was very nice. The motel is very run down and needs a major remodel. It’s fine for an overnight stay. It was clean and inexpensive.

Great location, nice pool, VERY FRIENDLY staff. Older motel that could use a remodel, but it’s clean and adequate. I planned on 1 night and stayed for 3.

You get what you pay for. It’s totally adequate for an overnight stay in the Palm Springs area.

I planned to spend 1 night and ended up staying 4. The staff was very nice. The motel is clean and adequate. My only complaint was the TV; they don’t have cable or satellite. They have Vizio TVs and just use the free streaming service that comes with it. It was very frustrating to use. If you’re a ‘TV Person’ don’t stay here! The motel is a 17-minute drive to Flagler Beach, which is a great place to spend your days. 🏖️😎

It’s fine for an overnight stay.

Great experience! This is a really good motel. Really good breakfast too. It’s not close to the beach. It’s about a 15 minute drive away.

Adequate for a one night stay. The room was clean, but in need of some repairs. It’s very close to the freeway and noisy. To say they have a breakfast is a huge stretch. It was literally a basket of prepackaged muffins and coffee. It’s very close to Baylor Stadium if you’re in town for a football game. You get what you pay for!

The room was clean and functional. I had a room in the courtyard by the pool. It was very quiet with lots of grass. Nice place!

The room was clean and functional. The motel is convenient to the freeway, but far enough off that it’s quiet. Good experience!

Adequate for an overnight stay. Nothing fancy, but it was clean and functional.

It’s an older property and could use a remodel. However, the owners are very nice people, and I’m sure they’re not getting rich off this motel. They live on the property and keep it very clean and functional. If you’re into ‘Old School’ Motels, you’ll love it. It’s totally adequate for an overnight stay in Dunsmuir. I’d stay again.

As Motel 6’s go, this is a really good one. Nice staff, very clean room, pool, microwave, and mini fridge. I’ll be back!!!

Another great experience! The owners are very nice people, and they’re doing an excellent job maintaining and renovating this property.

The room was very run down and reeked of cigarette smoke. The motel is in need of a major remodel.

This is by far the nicest Motel 6 that I’ve ever stayed in. It appears to be a newer facility. It’s very clean and functional, and the staff is very professional. Highly recommend it!

Clean room and friendly staff. The motel has an interesting layout. The indoor pool is in the center of the motel with all the rooms surrounding it. It’s also a split level, so you’ll have stairs regardless of your floor assignment.

Clean and good location.

Clean and an especially friendly staff. I’ll definitely be back!

Stay away! Dirty, sketchy, and way overpriced. Our first ‘non-smoking’ room reeked of cigarettes. Room #2 the TV didn’t work and most of the light bulbs were burned out. The only positive thing that I can think of was the gentleman that checked us in was very friendly. This is a $50/night motel that costs $150/night. No grassy areas for your dog. Never again!!!

It was clean and comfortable.

The motel is adequate, but all the dog rooms are upstairs and they don’t have an elevator. Ugh!!!

Great experience!

Good experience! The room was small, but very clean, quiet, and functional. The breakfast could improve, almost nonexistent. Convenient location.

Worst motel I’ve EVER stayed in. Water dripped from the bathroom ceiling. There was a HORRIBLE smell throughout the entire room. Seedy characters wandered around the motel all day and night. When I reported the issues with the room, the staff never once apologized or tried to make it right. Avoid this place like the plague!!!

Very nice stay! Great staff.

Nice place! Good breakfast. Good location. I’d definitely come back.

Old hotel in total disrepair. Lots of shady people hanging around. Way overpriced!
