Pickett's Mill Battlefield State Historic Site Leashed dogs are welcome at Pickett's Mill Battlefield State Historic Site in Dallas, GA, where you can explore one of the best preserved Civil War battlefields in the nation. This 765-acre park is home to picnic areas and miles of pet-friendly, wooded hiking trails that weave around the historic area, along creeks and even by a waterfall. Unfortunately, dogs are not permitted in the pioneer cabins or any of the other buildings in the park, but leashed pets are permitted in the visitor center to gain access to the trails. See Details

Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park is a dog-friendly national park in Kennesaw, GA. This National Battlefield preserves the land of this nearly three week long Civil War battle by the Atlanta Campaign. Fido is welcome to join you throughout the trails at this 2,965 acre park, however all pets must be on a leash no longer than 6 feet in length, and pets are not allowed in the visitor center, restroom facilities, shuttle bus, or near the water fountains. Amerson River Park Amerson River Park is a pet-friendly recreation area in Macon, GA, where leashed dogs are welcome. Etowah Indian Mounds State Historic Site Leashed dogs are allowed to join their owners on the historic, pet-friendly nature trail of Etowah Indian Mounds State Historic Site in Cartersville, GA. Previously the home to several thousand Native Americans, this park's purpose is to protect the 54-acres that includes six earthen mounds, a plaza, village site, borrow pits, and a defensive ditch. The earthen mounds were constructed by Native American tribes for numerous reasons, including for burial and ritual purposes. Please note that dogs are not permitted inside buildings at the park. Red Top Mountain State Park Red Top Mountain State Park in Acworth, GA, boasts 1,562-acres of land along the 12,000-acre Lake Allatoona. Flat Rock Park Flat Rock Park in Columbus, GA, is home to a lovely creek, mountain biking, frisbee golf, picnic tables, grills, playgrounds and more. The pet-friendly main trail is about 2.3 miles around with scenery for you and Fido to enjoy. There are also several smaller trails that break off of the main trail. See Details
Crooked River State Park Located on southern tip of Georgia's Colonial Coast in St. Mary's, dog-friendly Crooked River State Park is the perfect spot for enjoying the intracoastal waterway and maritime forest. Campsites are surrounded by palmettos and Spanish moss-draped oaks, while cottages are set near the tidal river. A boat ramp is popular with anglers who often take to the water before sunrise. Just down the road is the ferry to famous Cumberland Island National Seashore known for secluded beaches and wild horses. The park's nature trail winds through forest and salt marsh, and hikers may see gopher tortoises, fiddler crabs, herons and other birds. Dogs are allowed on all trails, but must be kept on a 6-ft max leash. Dogs are not permitted in or around historic sites, lodges, group camps, or swimming areas. See Details
Sweetwater Creek State Park Sweetwater Creek State Park is a peaceful tract of wilderness in Lithia Springs, GA. A wooded, dog-friendly trail follows the stream to the ruins of the New Manchester Manufacturing Company, a textile mill burned during the Civil War. Beyond the mill, the trail climbs rocky bluffs to provide views of the beautiful rapids below. Additional paths wind through fields and forest, showcasing ferns, magnolias, wild azaleas and hardwoods. Picnic shelters and campsites are also available. See Details
Ben Burton Park Leashed dogs are welcome to join their humans at Ben Burton Park in Athens, GA. This beautiful, 32-acre wildlife preserve is a great place for a picnic or a quiet walk through the woods on the 1.4 mile pedestrian trail. The park also offers access to the Middle Oconee River where you can fish, kayak or canoe. Please be sure to clean up after your pet during your visit. Dogs must be on a leash no longer than 6 feet and under your control at all times per ACC Ordinance. See Details
