When you want to really spoil your dog, or just meet other dog owners who are as crazy about their pets as you, there’s no better place to bring Fido than a dog event. Attend any of the dog shows, agility competitions, costume parades, festivals or fundraisers on our Dog Events Calendar and you’ll meet, hundreds maybe even thousands, of dog lovers. And since 70% of the events listed benefit humane societies, attending one is a great way to help homeless pets too.
Paws for a Cause 5K Run and Strut your Mutt 1M Walk
Show off your dog as you run/walk in the 5k race or 1-mile walk and take part in the adjoining Dogapalooza activities by Elkhart County Parks. Both courses are looped trails and awards will be given to qualifying humans immediately after the 5k race. Check-in begins at 9:30 AM. The 5k starts at 10:30 AM and the 1-mile walk begins at 11:30 AM. Registration for both the run and the walk includes a t-shirt. Dogs must be leashed throughout the event and retractable leashes are not permitted.

Lace up your sneakers and grab your pup to participate in one of two courses. The 10k route completes the 5k loop twice, consisting of a hilly and challenging course. Once you and your pup have finished the course, stick around the post-race village to enjoy some food, explore booths of local pet-themed vendors, play some games and more! They will hold a "Pup Parade" at 10:15 AM, where all dogs are welcome to participate and prizes will be given out. For everyone's safety during this 5k & 1-mile run/walk, all dogs must be leashed (this includes the race and post-race), and leashes longer than 6 feet will not be allowed.

The 5K is a traditional timed event that you can run, jog or walk and the derby is a race between all Daschunds and Daschund mixes. All human participants for the 5K will get a signature mug and a free post-run beer at the brewery. Each dog participant in the derby race will receive a treat bag and a custom race bandana.
