        Thin Walls In Guest Rooms

        Location was convenient and great right on the marina for places to walk the dog. Hotel room walls were paper thin, plus the back side of the building is right on the highway, very noisy!

        On a road trip from CT to FL and back, we stayed here one night, we showed up 3 HRs early and were able to check in early. Process took only a couple minutes. Room is very clean, bathroom looked updated and very clean as well. Would definitely stay here again. Located in a Marina and walking distance from a great restaurant on the water that is dog friendly! Great food and atmosphere over looking the river

        Dogs everywhere and it was great

        Our dog was one of many staying at the hotel this past weekend and all were welcome. The staff was friendly and it's worth the extra money for the harbor view. There was a full breakfast available. We'll be back.

        Ok for the price

        It is a great place for the price ! Near a dog friendly can walk your d the marina. We chose a room on the street side and it was noisy, next time we will pay the extra charge for a room by the marina.

        Great stay

        My husband and I stayed here recently with our 70lb mix Colton. I checked in at 2:30 pm in literally one minute. The room was very clean. I believe they were recently renovated and was pretty nice for the price we paid. The hotel is right next to the marina and we had a nice view. Decent amount of area around the building to walk your dog.

        Weak wifi in the second building, toilet ran every few minutes and the door handle only worked part of the time.

        Nice Hotel

        The hotel had great views of the marina... actually it was across the street. A restaurant was within walking distance. Noticed a man sitting on the steps when I left my room in the early evening to walk my dogs but other than that I would probably stay again. The price was reasonable.

        just what we wanted

        The hotel had a perfect location for our first trip to Charleston. It was close to downtown and to the tourist attractions. Our dog was welcome, and the continental breakfast was nice. There is a large area to walk dogs, and the marina is nice to walk along.

        The hotel was definitely pet friendly and no issuses there. The hotel needed updating in the rooms especially. Mold in the bathroom. However, for the money, it was fine.

        The room, bathroom included, was clean- no complaints. The check in was hassle free and quick. There was plenty of room to walk my dog especially since the marina is right across the street. There is a good restaurant within walking distance of the La Quinta. It was reasonably priced considering the location. A refrigerator would have been nice, but I would go back!

        Great Place to Stay with Dogs

        We had our two dogs with us for a vacation for the first time. We were apprehensive about how it would work out, but the La Quinta Charleston Riverview stay with them was quite pleasant. The room overlooked the dock, which gave us a great view. It was very easy to get to the downtown area fast or access other roads for going to places like the Isle of Palms and the ocean. We were able to take our dogs to the dog friendly restaurants downtown and in nearby areas. Just the two of us had a wonderful meal on the last evening at California Dreaming, which is at the end of the driveway from La Quinta. (The keylime pie was outstanding.)

        Great Place for "Furry" Kids

        We bring our dog most everywhere with us and he so misses the cat that this time we brought him too. The room was super and the continental breakfast was very good too. It was close to everything we wanted to do. We will definitely stay at La Quinta again when in Charleston.

        First the "no smoking" room had evidence everywhere of smokers using it. No where on the door or anywhere else in the room did it indicate a no smoking room. Curtains off the rod, privacy curtain ripped, sheer she'd had holes in it. Carpet used as base board coming off the wall. The shower curtain had mold growing on it. The refrigerator ticked the whole night, normally I would just unplug; however, we had medications that needed to remain cold. Bottom line: this hotel should not carry the La Quinta brand.

        Ok first let me saymy husband says I'm spoiled and here's why...we opened the door and was greater with a strange smell that we can't really but our finger on...the interior door is just filthy..none of the furni matches, the duvet had a fresh dirt stain on it surrounded by by speckles of other variations..upon removing I found blood stains, , the sheets appeared to be clean, no bed bugs yo be found, one broken lampshade which was just dangling so daintyly on its perch, the other lamp would not turn off, had to unplug it, now let me share a little bit about the charming bathroom; first to notice is the complementary bath amenities, a travel size bottle of patent& a bar of soap, 2 paper cups, and a packet of "coffee",ok whatever, then there was the sink, tooth paste spatter on the fa rusted n molding facet, questionable material in the sink, an undeniable chest hair, the toilet appeared clean and surprisingly new, the jetted tub was not. It was stained, mold on the caulking , the on/off switch was in the on position, I did not test to see if it was telling the truth, I can't even fathom a good guess on what had been dripping on the very top of the shower curtain, but it was brown and shined, and finally there was a black boot print on the floor of the tub to match the one on the floor. Just because curiosity had seriously set in, I tested it and it came up with ease. I can't say this would be the last little tid-bit I have to offer about our rooms, but our feet got sticky from walking in the carpet. I am a free going,not very picky, and I love an adventure but called me spolied if you must. Oh I forgot to mention, that, now here's where the spoiled comes in from my husband, I went to the car and broke into the first aid kit and took my only two alcohol wip s to clean the toilet. Cheap, accepts dogs, not fees, but I suggest you consider these small finer points of your stay. Maybe it was a really bad day for housekeeping and maybe I'm "spoiled" but I stand by these words. I only wish I could post photos to prove. Have good one folks sorry for for any misspellings but ? Lol

        Do not bring your dog here

        There is barely any grass to walk your dogs on and the grass that is available is covered in cigarette butts. The rooms are very filthy and outdated. The area of charleston is amazing and dog friendly, just choose a different hotel!

        Our stay at the La Quinta Inn, Charleston, was a huge disappointment. We were charged
        $197.00 only to be greeted by a filthy room with a bloody nose booger on the bed linens. There was no refrigerator or microwave, The only chair was a wobbly desk chair and the towels were old and worn thin. The carpet was dirty and frayed, the furniture looked like something off a dump truck and there was no security with side entrances open all night.
        The staff was unfriendly, bordering on rude, and the breakfast offering was so awful we bypassed it. This is the worst hotel room for the money I have ever stayed in. Our arrival was late and did not offer us the opportunity to find other lodging. Beware of this hotel, dog friendly, yes, but not worth the disgusting condition....stay away!!!

        Great location

        We had a great room on the ground floor near the door so it was really easy to get the dog out for a walk. Lots of grassy areas and the grounds were well maintained. The room was clean and the staff was really friendly. The only problem we had was that the maintenance staff were really loud outside our door on Sunday morning causing the dog to bark and woke us up. Other than that, the location was great, the room was clean and had everything we needed and it was very comfortable.

        Wonderful place to stay!

        We took our little dog and there were many more there but there was absolutely no doggie smell anywhere. The entire place was very clean and nice and the staff were all friendly and helpful. The location is great with close access to go either way into Folley Beach or to downtown Charleston. It's tucked away by the marina but only minutes from anything you want. We'll definitely go there again.

        Good For the Price

        We were looking for an affordable pet-friendly hotel that was convenient to get to downtown, as well as Mt. Pleasant. We booked a king sized marina view room for $90 per night. It was a great buy for the price. If you are looking for The Ritz, then this is not the hotel for you. But if you are looking for a lean room, a comy bed, and NO pet fees, look no further. I couldn't believe how many dogs we actually saw there. Some of the furnishings need to be updated, and the common areas were in need of vacuuming, but again, for $90, we were satisfied. As a bonus, there is a great restaurant (California Dreaming) that is across the parking lot that has outdoor, waterfront dining with great food. I would recommend spending the few extra dollars for the marina view for the room.

        Decent place to stay with dogs

        I appreciated the fact that this La Quinta allowed dogs without size restrictions as most "pet friendly" (I use that term loosely) hotels only allow smaller dogs. They gave me a 1st floor room right next to the exit which was great. Not much dog walking space but you can walk next to the marina and its away from the busy road. Convenient to different locations and easy access. The room was in decent condition (too fancy worries me anyway with my dogs) and the bed was comfortable. I appreciated they didn't charge extra fees.

        Not safe for you or your pet.

        We were traveling with our dog, and needed a pet friendly hotel, which is why this La Quinta was an option. I pre-booked and paid online for a king room which was supposed to include a refrigerator and microwave. We arrived at 4 pm. Check-in is at 3, so we were relatively early. Despite this, the desk staff told me they had no king rooms available in non-smoking, which is what I had reserved. How could they not have the room I reserved? That's what a reservation is for. I was informed that only smoking king rooms were available or non smoking double rooms. Having no other choice, I opted for the double room. I assumed that a refrigerator and microwave would be in the room, but they were not.
        There are two buildings for this Inn. The first is a little nicer building with rooms that open to an inside hallway. Even this building is looking run down, but it's not as bad as the other building. The second building is old, dirty, run-down and is the motel type building with doors that open to the parking lot.
        When we entered the room, we were immediately disappointed. The room was very small with hardly any room to move around. Pet carriers are required to keep your pet in while you are out of the room, but there was nowhere to really place the pet carrier without it being directly in the way. This is a big problem for us, because we have a retired racing greyhound, and she is a large dog with a large crate. The room was one of the smallest motel rooms I have seen, and there was not one inch to spare anywhere.
        The carpet looked and felt dirty. There were stains on the carpet, stains on the walls, even the phone had something questionable on the receiver. The bathroom had not been cleaned to any reasonable standard. There were curly "personal" hairs left in the shower. (Gross.) The toilet seat had obviously not been cleaned by housekeeping, because there was dried urine on the seat. (Grosser.) The toilet handle looked to have mold on it. The bathroom vent had mold and mildew all over it. The shower curtain rod was damaged and drooping. And what turned out to be the worst thing was that the front door was warped and did not close properly. Due to the warping, the door did not close flush, and there was a crack, even when the door was closed and locked. I had prepaid online; my payment was nonrefundable, so we had to make do with this. Otherwise, we would have left immediately and found another place.
        The most disturbing incident happened the second day. We left in the morning to do some sight seeing. We left our dog in the room in her crate. I wanted to put a Do Not Disturb sign on the door so that housekeeping would not bother the dog, but there was none in the room. Fortunately we were only gone a couple hours. When we returned, we found our door was not latched. You only had to push on the door and it opened without a key. There was no staff around anywhere: not in any nearby rooms, not along the walkways above or below; no one anywhere. When we entered the room, at first we fully expected to find someone from housekeeping inside, but there was no one. I feel what must have happened is that housekeeping had been in the room, and upon leaving left the door to slam shut on its own. However due to the warping on the door, the door did not slam shut. It only closed most of the way, but did not latch itself. Because of this, anyone walking by could have easily walked into our room and helped themselves to anything they wanted! Including our dog. As I said, we were only lucky that this did not happen. This is inexcusable on the part of housekeeping. They should ensure that every door is locked every time they leave a room. But especially this door, or any door that has issues.
        Although this claims to be a pet friendly hotel, it is only "pet friendly" in that they allow a pet in your room. There is really no where to walk your pet outside. It is almost amazing the lack of grassy area available anywhere, even next door or across the street. There is plenty of concrete and boats, very little grass.
        Additionally, you may not be able to find a parking space. When we returned late on Saturday night after having dinner in town, we had to circle the parking lot three times to find parking. And then we only got a parking space because someone was leaving. Vehicles were parked in all sorts of spaces they shouldn't be parked because space for parking simply was not there. When we returned to the room that night, there was a very large roach on the outside wall near our room. As unpleasant a sight as that was, we were more disturbed when we entered the room and saw a smaller roach on the wall of the room. Nothing surprised us at this point however.
        The hotel is directly next to a busy highway, and the noise from traffic is pretty much nonstop 24 hours. After all that, you might think the price would be reasonable, but it wasn't. I've stayed in nicer hotels, in larger cities, and have paid less for better rooms.
        The best thing I can say about the place was that the check-in staff were nice enough. The complimentary breakfast was very average. I recommend everyone to stay away from this place however. It is not safe, and there are too many truly bad points to make this place worthwhile in any way.

        Pacho loved the place

        Just got back from a weekend there. Dogs can stay in either the New/Old buildings. Old building has outside enterance, elevator for the dog. Rooms were clean better than expected and staff was helpful. Rember to take a poop bag, little grass infront of the facility. Califorina Dreaming is 100 feet away and charleston is 5 minutes away. Had a great time in room and charleston. Lot places in charleston don't let pets inside their places, even small dogs. Will stay there again.

        The dog loved the facility

        We just got back from a 2 night stay. They had dos (2) staying in the old and new buildings. The service was great or us and the little one. Both buildings have elevators, room were clean and neat. Had some grass in front of the facility, remember doggie bags!! You are 5 minutes to downtown Charleston. 5 bones to me is, having a butler serving breakfast in bed. Caifornia Dreaming is just 100 yrs away, by feet.

        Great location, dog friendly and great price

        We stayed here about 2 years ago with out little dog. The hotel was everything you could ask for for the price. The location was easily accessible to local attractions. The staff was friendly. The room was clean. The dog friendly rooms are located in an older building than the other guest rooms, but they are still well maintained and updated. The ONLY problem that was had was that because our room had access from outside (not an interior hallway) we heard quite a bit of road traffic through the night. This probably wouldn't have bothered the hubby and I but our little dog wasn't used to it so she had difficulty sleeping (and therefor, so did we).
