Located in the Chattahoochee-Oconee National Forest, Mount Yonah Trail in Cleveland is a challenging hike through the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Georgia. Dogs are welcome to join you indoors on a tour through the Civil War museum to view artifacts, explore the grounds of the historic fort, and hike along the Redbird Creek trail. This scenic and most dog-friendly state park in Georgia is nestled among live oaks and a salt marsh that showcases the best-preserved earthwork fortification of the Confederacy. While exploring with your pup, you’ll observe cannons, a hot shot furnace, bomb-proof barracks, palisades, and more.

Nestled among the tall Georgia pines and just an hour from downtown Atlanta, Pine Mountain RV Resort is an ideal countryside getaway and the most dog-friendly campground in Georgia. Let Fido socialize with other four-legged campers in two separate enclosed Bark Parks, allowing easy access from any campsite. For more exercise, take him for a hike along the 23-mile Pine Mountain Trail, which meanders by quiet streams, waterfalls, and native trees in F.D. Roosevelt State Park. If you don’t have your own RV, reserve one of three pet-friendly yurts. Newtown Dream Dog Park in Johns Creek is an incredible one-acre park that features artificial turf to keep paws clean, sprinklers around a spraying fire hydrant for dogs to enjoy in summer, and a variety of bridges, tunnels and hoops to explore, making it the best dog park in Georgia. There are separate areas for large and small dogs and benches for humans to relax while their furry friends run wild. The paved pathway around the park is draped in the shade of specially planted trees for comfortable walks on hot days.

The Doggie Carnival at Forsyth Park, the largest annual fundraising event by the Humane Society for Greater Savannah and can’t miss dog event in Georgia, is filled to the brim with fur-raising fun every year. Four-legged guests can partake in the doggie derby, try out agility equipment, make arts and crafts projects, and much more. Held in May, organizers provide dog pools for cooling off in the Lowcountry heat and homemade treats from Woofgang Bakery to fill hungry puppy tummies.
