Gateway National Recreation Area
The Gateway National Recreation Area in Highlands, NJ is pet friendly between certain dates. Dogs are not permitted on ocean-side beaches at Sandy Hook Unit from March 15 through September 15 due to piping plover season. Pets are permitted on bay-side beaches at Plum Island and Horseshoe Cove throughout the year, but must always be on a leash. Dog owners must carry out all trash, and make preparations for carrying out dog waste. Parking is $20 in the summer season from Memorial Day to Labor Day.

Baker Beach
Located approximately one mile south of the Golden Gate Bridge, pet-friendly Baker Beach in San Francisco is a great spot to take your dog for a view of the famous landmark. Dogs are permitted off leash on Baker Beach north of Lobos Creek, but they must be leashed south of Lobos Creek. Picnic facilities are available.

East Hampton Main Beach
Enjoy some beach frisbee or a casual stroll in the sand with your pup on the dog-friendly East Hampton Main Beach in New York throughout the year. Dogs are welcome off-leash anytime in the off-season. From May 15 through September 15, dogs are prohibited on the beach from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM. At all other times during that time frame, dogs MUST be manually restrained on a leash within areas that are within 300 feet of any road end along the beaches. Owners are responsible for cleaning up after their pets and controlling them. The village actively patrols beaches and strictly enforces regulations.

Bald Head Island Beaches
Bring Fido to play in the sand at the dog-friendly Bald Head Island Beaches in Bald Head Island, NC. You and your pup can explore 14 miles of pristine beaches. You'll need to take a pet-friendly ferry to get there (from Southport), but once you arrive, you'll find that dogs are allowed off-leash on any of them year-round. The only exception to this is in turtle nesting season when dogs must be leashed from sunset to sunrise. South Beach features long stretches of sand and calmer waters, while East Beach is better for boogie boarding and surfing. If you don't want to bring beach gear along with you on the ferry, you can rent everything you'll need from Riverside Adventure Company.

Seal Rock State Recreation Site
Seal Rock State Recreation Site is a pet-friendly area in Seal Rock, OR. This beautiful beach allows dogs on a leash or under voice control. Located south of Newport, there's a large off-shore rock formation that provide habitat for seals, sea lions, sea birds and other marine life. The short trail to the beach is steep in areas, but features an ADA accessible viewpoint at the midway point.

Pet-friendly Asbury Park Dog Beach in Asbury Park, NJ welcomes Fido all day long between mid-September and mid-May. In summertime, you and Fido should plan an early morning or evening visit as dogs are prohibited between 8:30 am and 6:00 pm. Isle of Palms Beaches in South Carolina boasts seven miles of pristine coasts that you can access via 57 public paths. These beaches are pet-friendly and allow dogs to visit off-leash from 5:00 AM until 9:00 AM April 1st through September 14th and from 4:00 PM until 10:00 AM September 15th through March 31st. At all other times, dogs must be on a leash and under complete control, even in the water.

Public Beaches in Myrtle Beach, SC, are pet friendly during certain times of the day throughout the year. Dogs are permitted on the beach anytime from Labor Day through April 30. No dogs are allowed on the beach from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM May 1- Labor Day. Pets must be on a leash seven feet or shorter at all times. Owners are responsible for picking up and disposing of waste.

Island Beach State Park
Island Beach State Park is a pet-friendly island barrier on the coast of Seaside Park, NJ. Stretching 10 miles in total, the sand dunes offer a varied and interesting area for plants and animals to thrive. From Memorial Day weekend through the first of October, pets are not permitted on the ocean swimming beaches. Leashed pets are permitted south of these areas during this time period. Pets are not permitted on the Spizzle Creek Bird Blind Trail at any time. Dog owners are reminded to clean up any mess that their pooches leave behind.

The Wildwood Dog Park & Beach is located between Glenwood and Maple Avenues in Wldwood, NJ. The dog park is open daily, and the dog beach is open from dawn to dusk. All rules for the Wildwood Dog Park & Beach are posted at entry and must be followed. Fresh water and clean up bags are available on site. Dogs on the beach must remain leashed, and leashes in the park are optional.

Fort Foster Park
Located on Gerrish Island in Kittery Point, pet-friendly Fort Foster Park offers three small but sandy beaches, an extensive trail system, restroom facilities in season, picnic areas and old military fortifications to explore. The park features an excellent view of the entrance to Portsmouth Harbor, including Whaleback Light, Portsmouth Harbor Light and Fort Constitution. Leashed dogs are welcome, and day passes are available for purchase at the gatehouse.

The Montrose Dog Beach is Chicago's first legal off-leash beach. Located on the Northwest corner of Montrose Beach, this area is fenced and offers free dog waste bags and a dog-wash area. Montrose Dog Beach is open during all regular Chicago Park District hours, but morning hours are the most popular. DFA tags are required for all dogs.

Warren Dunes State Park
Warren Dunes State Park has a beautiful pet-friendly beach on Lake Michigan in Sawyer, MI. Dogs are allowed in the campground, forested trails, boardwalks, and north of the northernmost swim buoy at the beach, which provides two and a half miles of Lake Michigan shoreline. Pets must always be on a six-foot leash and under an owner's immediate control. All pet waste must be properly disposed of in trash receptacles. Entry fees do apply.

Performance Pups Freshwater Dog Beach in Dania Beach, FL, is home to the cleanest freshwater dog lake in Broward County! This pet-friendly, fenced-in area allows dogs to swim and play off-leash. Swimming by humans is not allowed at the park. You can walk and wade in the water but the city ordinance forbids swimming for the two-legged. Admission is cash only.
